Diamond turned parts are manufactured by diamond turning, which produces an exceptionally smooth surface finish. These parts are machined on specialized CNC lathes from materials such as brass, copper, and aluminum. Due to their aesthetic excellence, diamond turned parts are often used as visible trim components that meet exacting design specifications.

Diamond turned parts are ultra precision turned parts with exceptionally high dimensional accuracy and surface quality in the range of Ra (roughness) 0.1 µm. Grinding and polishing are not necessary for diamond turned parts, as their surface quality is sufficient for subsequent finishing, such as chrome plating.
Diamond turned brass parts are machined from high‑grade brass and used as faucet components, for example valve bodies, spouts, handles, and escutcheons, as well as for decorative purposes. Flühs processes brass for the plumbing‑fixture industry because it machines cleanly and, thanks to strong corrosion resistance, is ideal for sanitary applications.
Diamond turned copper parts are produced from pure copper or copper alloys (like bronze, brass, cupronickel, tellurium copper). They offer very high thermal conductivity and antimicrobial properties, and are therefore widely used in electrical engineering, for example in contacts or antenna components.
Diamond turned aluminum parts are machined from alloys such as EN AW‑2007 and are used in electrical applications and in the automotive industry.

Diamond turned parts are produced on ultra‑precise CNC lathes that machine the workpiece with a diamond cutting insert and minimize deformation.
Diamond turning works with extremely sharp cutting tools, often made of a monocrystalline or a polycrystalline diamond. The high-precision CNC lathe used with maximum running smoothness generates little vibration for precise production at high speeds and low feed rates.
During the process of diamond turning, a very small amount of chips in the micrometer range is removed and the material is smoothed. The shape of the workpiece is not changed during diamond turning. The aim of diamond turning is to produce an extremely smooth surface in the range <0.1 µm Ra (roughness depth).
After diamond turning, a shiny surface is created that does not require any post-processing steps such as polishing.
The high-gloss surface of diamond turned parts enhances the appearance of the component and at the same time improves its functionality and dimensional accuracy.

The use of CNC machines enables high-precision, serial production of diamond turned parts, which is also economical. This means that high quantities of diamond turned parts can also be produced in large series, which are manufactured according to individual customer requirements with micrometer precision.
In addition to high-volume production, Flühs also offers diamond turned parts in small and medium series. We also use CNC automatic lathes that are equipped with special tools to enable minimal chip removal.
